Floaters rescued after their raft flips
The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office assisted in a search-and-rescue effort involving three people who were thrown into the North Fork of the Flathead River when their raft overturned after hitting a tree near Polebridge. All rafters were found safe. Two Bear Air, North Valley Search and Rescue, U.S. Border Patrol and Glacier Park rangers also helped in the quick search.
Someone reported being bitten by a feral cat in Lakeside. Traps were set to catch the feline.
A Bigfork woman reported that as her middle school-aged daughter was with friends near the lake, a man grabbed her and held her underwater. Surrounding people pulled the man off the girl and she came out of the water vomiting.
A Kalispell resident reported that a man in a yellow school bus parked on private property. The caller said the man had started putting sun reflectors on the vehicle to keep the heat out. The caller did not feel comfortable talking to the bus owner.
A caller reported a man had been sneaking into an apartment complex. The caller said the man, who was denied permission to live there, was sneaking in at night to sleep with his wife, who lives there.
A man said that his wife vandalized their mailbox when she set on fire a letter he had written her. He said they had been in a verbal argument.
A couple who rented a Hungry Horse cabin reported that the building was “a complete wreck, a rat-infested shack.” The couple called to say they were too angry to return the keys for the building that was “not fit for the homeless to live in.”
Deputies responded to a couple who were slapping each other in the face while coming down from an alleged heroin and methadone high.
A large dog jumped into a small pasture while chasing goats and got stuck.
Columbia Falls Police were unable to locate a van hidden in the trees off U.S. 2 in which people were supposedly living.
Kalispell Police received a report that multiple teens were spraying silly string at cars.
Dispatch received a call from a woman who “did not understand that the neighbors are allowed to mow their lawn during the day.” The woman said over the phone: “Five hours is just excessive.”
A family reported being followed by a Canada goose that wouldn’t let them get into their van.
Whitefish Police responded to a man who said he was assaulted by several men. He said the men hit him in the face and knocked him to the ground. The alleged victim said he was unsure exactly where it happened or who led the attack.
Police responded to an allegedly very drunk man in a downtown bar who was getting “more and more rowdy.” Police escorted him out of the bar and advised him not to return.
