Robert Charles 'Weller' Weller, 71
Robert Charles Weller, 71, passed away in the early morning hours of June 4, 2016, after a short illness with esophageal cancer.
Bob was born on June 9, 1944, in Kalispell, to Charles and Iola (Gorton) Weller, along with his twin brother. He and his twin brother, Roger, joined their older sister Janet.
Bob’s father, Charles, the fire chief of Kalispell, passed away when Bob was in elementary school, leaving his mother to raise the three young children.
Bob graduated from Flathead High School in 1962; soon after, he joined the Navy and served on the USS Barton, of which he was very proud.
After his service in the Navy, Bob held various jobs, such as pipe line surveyor in Alaska, taxidermist, and co-owner of the Rainbow Bar and Casino for several years with his dear friend Stew.
Bob loved to hunt and fish and always had plenty of work with his taxidermy business due to his great work and being a perfectionist.
Bob loved working in his garden and took great pride in canning whatever he grew and sharing with just about anyone along with his many other recipes.
Bob had a love for the weather, and if you needed to know what it was like on any given day, well, he could tell you from the many journals he kept.
Bob was one of the best joke tellers around and always seemed to have old ones and new ones. He enjoyed many trips to his cabin in the Swan with Jingles and all the stories afterward.
Bob had a nickname for just about everyone he knew, some pretty funny and some, well you know Bob!
Bob lived his life on his terms and could be ornery or have the biggest heart of gold, and that’s how we knew him and loved him.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, mother, and a nephew, Edo Orlandi.
He is survived by his sister, Janet, and her children Mia and Dom, all of Phoenix; his twin brother, Roger, and his wife Jan and their three children Renee Weller and Derek Weller, both of Houston, and Denise Weller and her children, Abby, Anna and Andrew Schrade, all of Kalispell; his Rainbow family and many friends throughout the years.
“Weller, you will forever be in our hearts.”
Graveside service for Bob will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 16, at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery for anyone who would like to join us. Following the service, there will be a celebration of Bob’s life at the Rainbow Bar and Casino until 8 p.m., or however long you want to hang out and share your many stories of Bob.
