LAW ROUNDUP: Drivers should watch out for bicyclists
Kalispell Police officers stopped a vehicle at the intersection of Main and Idaho streets as it allegedly attempted to leave the scene after striking a bicyclist Monday evening. The cyclist was conscious but “confused” and was bleeding from his head. He was transported to the hospital.
A 12-year-old rescued a small “Maltese-looking dog” that was stuck by the train tracks near Woodland Park.
Several Evergreen residents on Monday complained to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office about a door-to-door salesman peddling “Vivint Security” systems. Callers said they were concerned the salesman was a scammer after reading about a similar swindle in the paper and on the Kalispell Police Department website. Two callers said the man’s car had Utah license plates, although one said the salesman claimed to be based out of Helena. A woman on Meadowlark Drive told dispatch operators the salesman was “really looking inside” her home as he pitched his security system. Several Kalispell residents relayed the same situation to city police.
A woman planning a hike in the Bob Marshall Wilderness wanted to know if someone would come get her dog if it gets injured on the trail. She was told Flathead County Search and Rescue would not rescue a dog.
A woman called 911 after her daughter refused to get back in her car. She said her daughter was upset because she took away her phone.
A woman on Shady Lane in Kalispell reported someone had stolen a license plate off the motorcycle in her driveway and siphoned gas out of her car.
A man in Kalispell told dispatch that his neighbor’s music was too loud and was rattling his windows. Officers spoke with the neighbor, who responded that the caller “complains about everything.”
A man reportedly brandished a handgun at a pair of children playing in a Kalispell trailer park.
After her storage unit was burglarized, a woman said she believed the thief had used information from the stolen goods to attempt to open a cell phone account in her name.
Dispatch received a call from a woman who said she had been attacked by a dog on Margrethe Road in Kalispell, while the dog’s owner allegedly stood silent in a nearby driveway. Deputies educated the man on the county’s dog ordinances.
