Carl Dixon to present free performance, seminar at FVCC
On Friday, June 24, from noon to 3 p.m, the Crown Guitar Workshop and the Continuing Education Center of the Flathead Valley Community College will present a seminar featuring Carl Dixon, published author, speaker, and Canadian rock legend and lead singer/guitarist of The Guess Who. The afternoon will also include performances and discussion with some of the Crown’s past scholarship recipients on the power of music in their lives. Dixon will be performing and sharing his life journey. He remains one of Canada’s top singers and musicians, known from such bands including Coney Hatch, The Guess Who and April Wine.
In 2008, Dixon was critically injured in a car accident, leaving him with a traumatic brain injury, collapsed lungs, crushed legs, and crushed right arm. He was not expected to survive. His eight-year journey back to join The Guess Who on stage in 2016 is a story that demonstrates the power of determination, positivity and the power of mind over adversity. Guitarists and non-musicians alike can gain strength, insight, and inspiration from his presentation.
This event is free and open to the public, thanks to the generous sponsorship of the FVCC Continuing Education Center. Guitars are not needed for this workshop, but participants may bring one if they wish. The seminar will be held in the large meeting room inside the Arts and Technology building on the Flathead Valley Community College’s Kalispell campus.
