A local banker told the Whitefish Police Department she’d had a suspicious encounter with a customer and she wanted it logged for information. She said a man came into the bank just before closing and was upset because she was unable to cash a check for him. The man became angry and made comments about wanting to “rob all the banks and then go shoot all the politicians because they made him broke.” Officers were familiar with the suspect.

An employee at a U.S. 93 South business called police when a panhandler allegedly fell asleep inside the building and then refused to leave. Officers escorted the man from the building.

A woman reported that her cell phone and wallet had been stolen Saturday night at a Central Avenue business. She had already canceled her credit cards, but wanted the theft logged.

A caller told police that a vehicle’s occupants, a man and woman, on U.S. 93 South looked to be involved in some drug activity. Officers had already been watching the vehicle in question.

A caller on Spokane Avenue said there were several needles on the ground nearby. Officers found the objects and took them to be properly disposed of.

A Cedar Street resident called police when she saw two children walk up to her vehicle and try to open the doors. When the boys saw her, she said, they took off running. Officers were unable to locate the young suspects, but did perform extra patrols in the area through the evening.

A driver on Somers Avenue reported a tree partially blocking the road. Officers found the tree in question was too big for them to move safely without assistance, so the public works department was notified.

A caller at a business on Nucleus Avenue was annoyed and called the Columbia Falls Police Department to complain that a vehicle had parked in front of the business in a handicap space with no handicap decal or plate. Officers spoke with the offending vehicle’s owner, who said she had a decal and had just forgotten to display it. She moved the placard into plain sight.

A Crescent Drive resident called to report a suspicious man with a clipboard walking around the neighborhood and asking residents about security systems. Officers located the man — he was, in fact, a certified security systems salesman.

A manager at a store on Nucleus Avenue told police there was a man who was being “loud and obnoxious.” The man allegedly started yelling, took his shirt off, and asked a young girl if she wanted to go smoke with him. Officers were able to find the man at another location.

An officer stopped on U.S. 2 West to assist a citizen who was attempting to corral a loose dog and keep it from running into traffic.
