SOFTBALL: Frenchtown hammers Polson, 17-8

FRENCHTOWN — Polson scored a run in every inning, banged out 12 hits but it still wasn’t enough as Frenchtown rolled to a 17-8 Northwestern A softball victory Friday evening.

Frenchtown (9-3 overall, 3-0 league) had two big innings, shoving six runs across the plate in the fourth and scoring five times in the seventh.

Brooke Yarnall, 4 for 5, and Shelby Shourds, 3 for 5, both homered twice. Dana Jacobs and Laci Willett both homered once for Frenchtown. Yarnall had seven RBIs.

Laurel Bitterman and Hannah Potter had two hits each for Polson (12-5, 2-2).

Hayley Fyant, Polson’s top pitcher, is still sidelined with a rib injury she suffered in a game with Butte Central at the Frenchtown Tournament.
