SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Glacier blanks Hellgate; Libby, Eureka roll to wins
MISSOULA — Glacier used home runs and another dominating performance by its all-state pitcher to blank Missoula Hellgate 10-0 in five innings on Saturday in a Western AA softball contest.
Glacier’s Ali Williams held Hellgate to a single in the bottom of the fifth inning. She had 11 strikeouts.
Williams also homered twice, a solo shot to left center in the second inning and a two-run blast in the third to raise her season total to 10.
Christine Connolly homered to left center with the bases loaded in the first inning to get the Wolfpack off to a fast start. She also doubled.
It was Connolly’s second HR of the season.
Serra Monroe, 2 for 3, also doubled for Glacier.
Connolly had four RBIs, Williams three and Monroe two.
Glacier thumped Hellgate earlier in the season 8-0.
“I think, offensively, it was nice to see our kids come out and hit the ball,” Glacier coach Andy Fors said.
Glacier hosts Butte on Tuesday for a doubleheader starting at 2:30 p.m. and wraps up regular-season action on Thursday with a doubleheader with Flathead starting at 3 p.m. at Kidsports Complex.
