LAW ROUNDUP: Thieves make off with business trailer

Flathead County Sheriff’s Office took a report from U.S. 93 in Somers, where a contractor reported that a thief had moved a load of lumber to access an 18-foot-long trailer full of tools. The trailer was gone, and the contractor estimated that between $15,000 and $20,000 worth of goods were stolen.

A report was logged after someone called from a store in Marion to report that a young woman was in tears because she was two months pregnant and had just been assaulted by her father. The young woman ran off before deputies arrived. The girl was allegedly holding her head because of an apparent injury. A witness noticed that she appeared to be badly bruised.

A person on Bigfork Stage Road reported that more than $8,000 worth of windows, an air compressor and a generator were stolen sometime in the past week.

A man called to report he had been harassed by a passing canoeist at Lion Lake. The person who was harassed was concerned because the man’s canoe was later seen floating in the lake upside down, but the man was not in sight. The man, who might have been drinking beer, was eventually located unharmed.

A man called from outside of Kalispell to ask for advice about orders of protection after his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend kept threatening him, including a threat to come over to where the man lived and burn his house down.

A manager in Essex reported that an employee living in corporate housing had lodged a complaint about a roommate who allegedly exposed himself to another female employee. A deputy was dispatched to investigate.

An 18-year-old suspect was cited at school after someone reported that he had followed someone to a location on Helena Flats Road, and allegedly slashed three of that person’s tires.

A woman was told to apply for an order of protection after she was allegedly raped by a man in Kansas. He followed her to the Flathead Valley, she claimed. She was told to report the rape in the town where it occurred.


Kalispell Police took a report from someone on West Idaho Street who said that the gas line to his or her boat motor had been cut. The fuel was drained from the vehicle.

A store worker reported that someone had stolen a cleaning robot worth $400. The alleged theft was caught on film.

Parents were counseled on Fourth Avenue East after a 14-year-old allegedly threatened a 9-year-old with a knife.


Whitefish Police logged an informational report after a newspaper delivery driver reported that he or she had seen a car driving on Wisconsin Avenue in the wee hours of the morning with no headlights. The driver thought the activity was suspicious.


Columbia Falls Police released a woman to the care of her sister after she kept wrecking her shopping cart in a store. The woman allegedly fell asleep on the store’s floor. The store worker thought the woman might be intoxicated or high on drugs. The woman admitted that she did not feel well.
