TENNIS: Polson sweeps Columbia Falls; Getts perfect in singles
POLSON — Polson swept a Northwestern A tennis dual with Columbia Falls on Thursday while Emily Getts finished up her third-straight regular season undefeated in conference play.
Polson’s girls won 6-1 with Getts preventing a perfect score. The Columbia Falls senior had her hands full, however, with Marlee Congdon at No. 1 singles, winning 2-6, 6-2, 7-5.
“She got Emilee on the move a little more,” Polson coach Bob Hislop said this time of Congdon.
“And she played more consistent in some tough, windy conditions.”
Getts finished fourth at state last year.
“She rallied,” Columbia Falls coach Gene Marcille said of his standout.
“That’s a pretty good accomplishment,” he said of her perfect play in league matches.
Polson’s top doubles team — Kyler Lundeen and Olivia Hewston — also prevailed in a close match.
The Polson boys won 7-0, but needed to win tough matches at No. 1-2 singles with Jaron Morgan and Kabe Forman-Webster and at No. 1 doubles with Matt Sitter and Cadis Chowning.
This was the regular-season finale for Columbia Falls.
Polson finishes up today at Whitefish.
The Northwestern A divisional tournament is next week at Flathead Valley Community College.
