Whitefish, Polson split
dual action
WHITEFISH — Whitefish won three of four singles matches and added a win at No. 3 doubles to claim a tough 4-3 dual win over Polson in boys tennis action.
In the first meeting of the season for the two schools, Whitefish won 5-2.
“Always a big rivalry,” Whitefish coach Chris Schwaderer said with Polson.
“It was a great match, a lot of super battles, three-set matches. There was a lot of drama. We were fortunate to get this one.”
Polson won both three setters — Jaron Morgan at No. 2 singles, 4-6, 7-5, 7-5, and Colin Kenney and Quaid Harlan at No. 1 doubles, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
Max Smyley rolled at No. 1 singles for Whitefish, winning 6-0, 6-0.
In girls action, Polson posted a 6-1 victory. The Pirates, 19-0 on the season, won all four singles matches.
“One of the things that sticks out to me is we lost a lot of tiebreakers and super tiebreakers,” Whitefish coach Patrick Dryden said. “Three tiebreakers and two super tiebreakers. We didn’t serve really well today and I don’t know what the cause of that was.”
