LAW ROUNDUP: Slithery fright actually tricky sight

The Flathead Sheriff’s Office responded to River’s Place where a woman said she had been changing her toilet seat when she saw a 2-foot-long snake inside the bowl. An officer could not locate the snake, but did find a pair of beige pants sitting on a nearby surface that might have played tricks in the light when reflected by a small makeup mirror.

Deputies gave advice to a man on Foothill Drive outside Kalispell after he requested information about where to find a forensic analyst who could determine the trajectory of a bullet that went through a screen and window to his home.

A couple dined and dashed from an Evergreen restaurant after a staffer caught them trying to pass a fraudulent $60 check for $19 in food. A deputy took a report.

A woman visited a gravesite on U.S. 93 outside Kalispell and noticed that thieves had stolen several plants and a decoration from a cemetery. She did not have any suspects in mind.

An Evergreen duckling was given to wildlife rehabilitation staff after a person’s cat picked it up from the yard. It appeared the duckling had fallen out of its nest.


Whitefish Police were called by train station staff who said that an elderly woman got off the train but had no transportation or particular destination in mind as she hung around after closing time. The woman was allegedly in the area to look at property. Train station staff did not want to kick the woman out without a place to go. A taxi was called for her.


Kalispell Police issued citations to juveniles who were caught with alcohol in a park. Someone had called and said that there were six youths involved in what appeared to be suspicious activity.

Snowboard boots were stolen from a residence on Second Avenue East.

A man showed up outside a building where he had applied for a job with a nasty sign airing his grievances with the company. He was told to move along.
