Suzanne Kameon, 85

Suzanne Kameon passed away peacefully on April 29, 2016, in Whitefish.

She was born Aug. 9,1930, in Massapequa, New York. At the age of 7, the family pulled up roots and moved to Hollywood, California. Suzanne’s life began with music! She studied the piano on a Steinway baby grand at the age of 7 and played into her 60s. At the age of 13, she competed in an event at the Los Angeles Philharmonic Hall, delivering a Rachmaninoff concerto composition and was crowned the winner. For the rest of her life music would be one of her great loves.

At the age of 19, Suzanne married Harry Bittner, and had two daughters. She also began an accomplished acting career in the world of theater and television. She was a cast member of many television shows in the ‘60s, including, “The Munsters,” “77 Sunset Strip” and “Divorce Court,” just to name a few.

Twenty eight years ago, Suzanne, with her second husband Herb Kameon, made a visit to the Flathead and one look at the palatial mountains, beautiful lakes and wonderful people of the valley was an encouraging factor in their move to Whitefish. Herb and Suzanne became deeply and passionately involved with the Whitefish community. One of Suzanne’s greatest joys was her commitment to Alpine Theatre Project where she sat as chairwoman of the board for many years.

Suzanne is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Spooner and her husband Mike of Kalispell, and Wendie Kristy and her husband Brian from Toronto, Ontario; and three stepchildren Judy Otsi and her husband Eric, Kitty Kameon, and Paul Kameon, all from Los Angeles. She is also survived by her niece Diana Burckhardt. She greatly enjoyed her five grandsons, Dylan Bovee and his wife Laci, Stetson Spooner and his wife Anali, Christopher Balkou, Tyler Balkou, and Ian Otsi. Her heart was warmed and always had a twinkle in her eye by her five beautiful great-grandchildren who were her pride and joy! We would like to take a moment to mention the love, appreciation and many thanks for her caregivers, friends and personal assistants: Monica Foster who worked for Suzanne for 26 years, BonnieJean Reidinger, Stephanie Schroeder, and Joan Heidle.

Her life over the span of 85 years is filed with so many accomplishments it would take a book to write about them all. For those who knew Suzanne and her family, we invite you to a celebration of her life cocktail party at Iron Horse in Whitefish for an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 21.
