Cops take calls from confused man
The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call Sunday evening from a man who said he had no idea where he was. He told dispatch he had been walking through the woods for three days. When the dispatcher asked about dogs barking in the background, he responded, “They are coming for me,” then disconnected.
He called back, crying, and was later located in an intoxicated state in the woods south of his residence. He was released into the care of his wife.
The Kalispell Police Department put extra patrols around a downtown business Sunday night after a man was reportedly seen wandering around with a hatchet, messing with mailboxes, crouching in bushes and exhibiting “weird behavior.”
An officer responded Saturday evening to a reported mugging on Second Street West. The victim said the alleged thief knocked her to the ground, took her purse and fled on foot down an alley.
Someone called 911 to report a group of children using a net to catch turtles on a river slough. The caller wanted to know if it was illegal.
A pickup truck was reportedly driving near Three Mile Drive while a passenger was firing a gun out the window.
Early Sunday morning, a group of kids were allegedly using their skateboards to smash windows at Kalispell Middle School.
A high school student was reportedly threatening to jump off Graffiti Rock. He climbed down on his own, and told officers he was not suicidal, but was “trying to impress girls.”
A man became suspicious after a member of a group handing out religious information asked him what his travel plans were. Since there had been multiple burglaries lately, he said he was worried they were checking the area out. Police confirmed they were Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Whitefish Police Department responded to a call that a man was seen dragging a woman down a Whitefish Street on Sunday after the woman continued to stumble to the ground. Both appeared to have been drinking, according to the caller.
A dog was allegedly barking at people from inside a car parked in front of a business.
Columbia Falls Police Department received a report that three walking canes and a purse were stolen from a woman’s car while she was in the hospital.
A Columbia Falls resident reported a border patrol vehicle driving recklessly at 2:56 a.m. Sunday morning.
