Western B
MISSOULA — The Libby girls lead the team race after the first day at the Western B divisional track meet, with Bigfork in both the boys and girls team races.
Shannon Reny won the shot put to give the Loggers their only individual event win, but the depth of the former Class A school has proven the key.
Bigfork’s girls took the top three spots in the 400 and the 400 relay and currently sit two points back of the Loggers. The Valkyries will be without one of their better athletes for the rest of the season, however, as sophomore distance standout Bryn Morley will sit out with a stress fracture.
Ronan won three of the first seven events and sits three points back in third, Ashley McCready winning the 3,200, Ally Buhr the pole vault and Lee Camel the long jump.
Eureka’s Mckay Guckenberg won the 800 in 2:29.83.
The Thompson Falls boys hold a healthy lead in the team race over second place Bigfork, but the Vikings have had their share of success. Matt Farrier won the 400 and Logan Morley the 1,600 by nearly 20 seconds.
Eureka’s Kaelan Yanak won the shot put with a toss of 47 feet, 3 1/2 inches.
