LAW ROUNDUP: Lawn ornament thrown through window

Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Lakeside, where someone reported that he or she had come home and found that a lawn ornament had been thrown through a window.

Deputies took a man to the hospital after he was found on a property on Ashley Lake Road. The man told a deputy that he felt hypothermic after he lost his way in the dark trying to walk to Libby to a mental-health provider. He was found the next morning by a woman who fetched a gun and made him wait outside until law enforcement arrived.

A person on Tamarack Lane in Columbia Falls asked for assistance after ongoing dog problems escalated as 10 chickens allegedly were killed by a canine.

A woman was told to talk to school officials about discipline after her son was taken to the emergency room after being punched in the stomach by another youth in Lakeside. The woman did not immediately want to press charges.

A man was told to stay away from a property on Third Avenue West near Kalispell after a tenant allegedly kicked a door in and took files.


Kalispell Police counseled a middle-aged man who reportedly had a shovel in his hand on Appleway Drive while he was screaming at children. Officers determined that there had been a disagreement over a wall, but that the shovel was never in play. The situation was resolved peacefully.

A purse was reported stolen from a vehicle on Bruyer Way.

A man had no idea why someone would key his car, but he found it damaged after a day of traveling through multiple parking lots in the city that made it difficult to determine where the damage had occurred. An officer thought the scratch might have been accidental.

Officers were advised to look for a Red Audi that was stolen with its owner’s belongings inside, including her house keys. The woman had to break a window to get into her apartment, cut her hand, and called officers crying. A man later called and said that the car had been in a drunk-driving accident. An officer was dispatched.

A dog owner on Barron Way was cited for a dog barking continuously for more than 15 minutes after an animal control officer witnessed the noise.

A man was told to leave a house on Sixth Avenue West after he allegedly threw a brick through a window. The issue was allegedly a roommate dispute.


Columbia Falls Police escorted suspected shoplifters out of a supermarket twice in one day. One man had been staying in the restroom trying to avoid a rainstorm.


A Whitefish Police officer was allegedly called a vulgar name after he would not give a woman the answers she wanted about retrieving her deceased daughter’s electronics. The woman was told the matter was appropriate for civil court.
