LETTER: Refugees who won't assimilate need not apply

| May 22, 2016 9:45 AM

I am writing in support of the excellent article “Don’t Be Afraid” by Caroline Soloman. I attended the ACT meeting sponsored by her group, with was conducted with the same expertise as evidenced in her letter.

Following the above-referenced meeting, I spoke with a Daily Inter Lake reporter regarding my thoughts, and I stated that we cannot have the Muslim and/or Syrian people settle here as they do not assimilate. Consider our cities in which groups of them live, and their Sharia law problems. I informed that reporter about the Hmong refugees when they were relocated to Missoula by Jimmy Carter.

At that time I lived on the corner of Reserve Street and Mount in Missoula. One Saturday afternoon I was driving east on Mount and noticed an Oriental man, who was just closing his garage door. I also noticed numerous skinned animals hanging from rafters on both sides of his garage and wondered if antelope hunting season had opened. The next day the Missoulian reported that the Hmong were found to be killing and eating their neighbors’ dogs! This can be verified by contacting the Missoulian.

Assimilation is what made America great. We didn’t have Irish, Italian, Norwegian or any other language found in print and storefront signage or posters like we see in our media with Spanish today!

These politically correct, uninformed bleeding hearts might wake up when the Muslims come for them. I say don’t allow them to move here; send home those who likely will not follow our laws, customs, or learn our language. —Jack Paulson, Bigfork
