LETTER: Attacks on Skees are wrong

| May 29, 2016 10:15 AM

I am saddened and surprised of the erroneous attack ads against Derek Skees. It appears that the issues are no longer political arguments; rather, they are lies created to make false perceptions of someone’s character.

I know Derek Skees and I consider him to be an honest and forthright man who loves God, family, country and Montana. I know him to be a man of integrity and understanding. Derek has always listened to me and has afforded me the respect of actually doing research into the issues in which we may or may not agree. He has always followed up or has set his mind in motion to find a solution to an issue.

We do not agree about everything politically. I don’t know many people who are always in 100 percent agreement, but he has never shut me down or has not listened intently to my viewpoint.

To the people who are creating the false attack ads and are making calls spreading the lies about Derek, shame on you. This is Montana … this is the Flathead … this isn’t some national hate fest. Here in the Flathead, we used to respect one another and cared for one another.

I am proud of having a two-party system. We need differing viewpoints on issues. We need forthright issue arguments from both sides of the aisle. What we do not need nor want are false and misleading character assassinations. —Deb Johnson, Kalispell
