LETTER: How could Zinke endorse Trump?

| May 29, 2016 10:30 AM

I used to think Congressman Ryan Zinke was a pretty smart fellow. I mean he was the commander of a Navy SEAL team, and I’m sure they don’t pick idiots for that job. But when I read that he is endorsing Donald Trump for president, I have my doubts about Mr. Zinke’s intelligence.

I don’t expect everybody to instantly recognize a flim-flam man, but after a couple months, it gets to be pretty darn clear that when a sober person only talks big about themselves and their high falutin’ ideas, we should be a bit suspicious.

Now, an honest man would be able to back up all that big talk, but we don’t hear that from Mr. Trump. When anybody calls him on it, all we get is distracting insults and name calling. If I were buying livestock and the seller talked the way Mr. Trump does, I’d turn my back on him quick as I could and tell my neighbors that there’s something not quite right about the man.

I know Rep. Zinke comes from a small town where people are mostly honest, so maybe he is too trusting of big city folks in their fancy suits who smile all the time, but I think we should all let the congressman know that there is something about Mr. Trump that smells like a tour of a wet feed lot on a hot summer day.
