LAW ROUNDUP: 'Ms. MacGyver' handles dying bear

Flathead County Sheriff’s Office took a report from Foy’s Canyon Road, where a man reported that his wife had hit a bear that was not quite dead. The man reported that she “lassoed it, and drug it off the road in the ditch.” A deputy was called and by the time he arrived to inspect the bear, it was dead. 

A deputy responded to Lakeside, where a surveillance camera had allegedly caught some individuals throwing cartons of eggs at a 15-year-old girl. The assailants also allegedly yelled profanities at the girl. 

Someone on Smokey Bear Lane reported that a prowler was seen on the property. The prowler allegedly did not take anything, but the owner wanted the incident documented. 

Someone complained about a wandering swan that was in the roadway on Whitefish Stage, allegedly causing a traffic hazard. A deputy found that the swan was no longer causing an issue. 

A man reported seeing a drug deal in progress, saying that he was very certain drugs were being dealt. The man said that he had already reported suspected drug traffic onto the property months ago. The incident was logged. 

A man was told to contact the Federal Bureau of Investigation after he reported that a computer with the ability to hack into satellites was located at a Billings address. The man was concerned about national security. 

A bike was found abandoned on Willow Glen Drive. An officer picked it up and took it to the lost/stolen bike barn. 

A deputy was sent to U.S. 2 outside of Kalispell for a man who allegedly stole a Little Debbie snack after his food-stamp card was declined. 

Vandalism was observed at an overpass in Evergreen. Someone had given the structure an unauthorized spray paint job, with offensive language and messages about the two main presidential candidates. 

A man called police from Flathead Drive to report that someone had broken a window trying to get into a trailer. The man’s father chased after the suspect, but was unable to catch him. Deputies were able to catch and jail a suspect. 

A man on Prairie Lane outside of Kalispell was taught how to bear-proof his yard after a bear got so close to him in his yard that he could smell it. 

A man was taken from a residence outside of Columbia Falls to his mother’s house after his girlfriend called and said that he tried to force her to have sex with him. The pair were drunk and the man allegedly pushed the woman to the ground.

Whitefish Police Department fielded a call from a man who had given officers footage of crime suspects a week earlier. The man wanted to know what was going on in the case. 

A woman on West Second Street reported that her boyfriend had allegedly broken a finger. She did not want to pursue charges.

Columbia Falls Police Department took a report from Sixth Avenue West, where a person reported that a red line had been spray-painted down the side of a truck. 

Kalispell Police took a report from Santa Fe Street, where a woman’s shoes were stolen from her vehicle. 

A woman reported that she had found a diapered toddler roaming down Liberty Street. The caller put a sweater on the child and put him in her car. A frantic woman emerged from the apartments and the caller reunited the child with his mother. The mother said the child had climbed out of the window. 

A man on Fifth Avenue East reported that his friend was breaking things in his apartment because of concern over an internet bill. The issues were resolved.
