LETTER: Vote against Taylor Rose

| November 6, 2016 10:30 AM

I am puzzled by the decision of Taylor Rose to try to represent House District 3 in the Montana Legislature. I believe Mr. Rose does not reside in HD 3 and does not represent the locals here.

He claimed in articles for the Hungry Horse News and elsewhere that he moved to Columbia Falls last year. However, on Aug. 22, 2016, he bought a hunting license which he posted on his official political social media the next day for everyone to see. His address is clearly listed on the license as Marion MT, 59925. What are we to make of it if he tells the local papers one residence, but claims a different one with MT FWP?

The confusion about his actual residence is troubling enough, but if someone is running to represent our community, I expect to see them engage with important local issues by attending the meetings with EPA regarding the recent Superfund designation of CFAC. Mr. Rose neglected to attend either of the critical informational meetings in Columbia Falls on Sept. 29 and Oct. 11. It is a prohibitive commute when you have to drive across House Districts 13, 11, 8, 7, 9 and 4 to get to the district you are trying to represent.

Zac Perry, our local representative for HD 3, was at those meetings. Zac Perry lives in HD 3, and he already represents us well in Helena. This November I will vote local to re-elect Zac Perry. I encourage you to do the same. —Darin Fisher, Columbia Falls
