Determined thief steals from garage

Flathead County Sheriff’s Office responded to Mountain View Drive, where it appeared that a thief had tried to drill out a deadbolt to a garage. When that effort didn’t pay off, the thief allegedly broke a window and stole stuff anyway.

A deputy took a report from Nicholson Drive in the Kalispell area, where someone reported that cash was missing from a drawer. An alarm had tripped earlier in the day, but the caller was unsure how the thief had accessed the building.

A man was told how he might file a complaint in civil court after he reported that his roommates had allegedly killed his dog while it was inside their residence.

A man on Rockwood Road found that furniture had been stolen from his home. He suspected his ex-wife had taken the items. The pair had been divorced since 2011.

A person on Braig Lane in Columbia Falls reported that supplements and other items were taken from a mailbox. Some of the mail had been found on the ground by the neighbors.

A deputy answered questions a woman had about whether or not the father of her children might be involved in drug dealing in Evergreen.

Citations were issued after a woman called to report that her ex-boyfriend had hit her and stabbed her car tire with a knife before he took off.

A dead black lab puppy was found on Trumble Creek Road. The caller did not want to report it as suspicious but did want authorities to know in case a distraught family was looking for their dog.

A worker reported that someone had shoplifted a Razor scooter from a store on U.S. 2 East.

A gas station reported that a woman had driven off without paying for $27.68 worth of gas. The caller only wanted the person to come back and pay, not to press charges.

A woman called from a location outside of Kalispell to report that she had been watching YouTube videos when her screen locked up and a number flashed across it for her to call. The number led her to someone in Nigeria who wanted her to send $300 to unlock her computer. A deputy answered the woman’s questions about the scam.

The owner of a storage unit reported that one of the units had its lock cut off. Items were tossed around and rummaged through. Some items were stolen.

A woman was detained for assault and trespass after she allegedly hit a bartender at a location off Montana 35.

A deputy took a report after someone reported that he or she had heard conversations on a train that made him or her think Islamic terrorists might have been aboard.

A deputy picked up $2,161 that had been found in the vehicle of someone who was taken to jail. The tow truck driver found the cash when the vehicle was towed.


Columbia Falls Police took a report from a woman who said that she and her friends had been receiving inappropriate, unwanted messages from someone on SnapChat. An officer contacted the social media company to see if he could track down the owner of the account. The recipients were told to block the man.

An officer was unable to observe any drug paraphernalia or needles in plain sight from outside of a bedroom. The homeowner had rented out a room and had allegedly seen the paraphernalia when he or she entered the room without permission of the renter. The officer told the homeowner to have the renter dispose of the illegal property.

Cash was reported stolen from a location on Meadow Lake Boulevard. A report was taken.


Kalispell Police took a report from Kelly Road, where a man said he had bought a bike from one pawn shop, only to have another pawn shop tell him it was stolen. The man had not kept his receipt. The man was told that an officer would follow up because there was a chance it was stolen.

A caller on Seventh Avenue West asked for extra patrol after a cat was hit and killed by a vehicle. The man complained that traffic in the area was horrible.

A mother was counseled after someone complained that she left her sleeping 1-year-old child in a vehicle while she went into the store for 10 to 15 minutes.

Belongings were collected from a mailbox on Fifth Avenue West after a person found that a food stamp card, towel, glass and other things had been placed into the receptacle.

Someone complained that a mom had allegedly been seen spanking and slapping a child in the parking lot of a retail store. The caller was worried about the welfare of the child. An officer ran the license plate of the vehicle the pair left in and discovered its last registered owner lived in Missoula.

A man walked into a store on North Meridian Road and asked that people call an ambulance. The victim had an apparent shoulder and leg injury from an assault that allegedly occurred on 10th Avenue West. The man said he was trying to walk to the hospital. He was taken via ambulance.

Officers told a woman that her issue was a civil one after she reported that her daughter had taken her husband’s Jeep without permission. The 24-year-old daughter had permission to drive the vehicle, the woman said. She did not have permission to pack up her four kids, rent a U-Haul and drive to Michigan.

An officer could not locate a man who a hotel worker said came into the establishment, used a bathroom adjacent to a casino, and started screaming obscenities at staff when staff asked him to leave because he was not a patron.


Whitefish Police took one man to the police station after he was reported as fighting with another man in a medical office.
