LAW ROUNDUP: Unwanted furry guest gets catty

Flathead County Sheriff’s Office took a call for Animal Control from a woman on Konley Drive who reported that she could not get a stray cat to leave her home. The kitty had scratched the woman when she tried to kick it out. The male cat was impounded and put under quarantine. 

A deputy took a call from East Evergreen Drive, where a man wanted to talk to a deputy about three officers allegedly illegally seizing some of his property. He was unwilling to give a phone number for the supervisor to call so dispatchers were unable to assist the man.

A person in Columbia Falls reported that his or her mailbox had been burglarized. Checks for bills had been taken.

A man who was sent dirty pictures by a woman he met online reported the images to police after the woman started asking him to send money. A deputy informed him that he was the victim of an out-of-state scam.

A man reported that his turquoise truck that had been stolen might have been found, spray-painted and disguised. The person responsible for taking the truck had allegedly ended up having a stay in the county jail.

Someone on West Valley Drive reported that a “junk yard dog” had bit him three times on the ankle. The bites apparently did not break the skin.

A wood pump shotgun was stolen from a barn on Bierney Creek Road.

A woman reported that a vehicle had been keyed on Conrad Drive. She had a suspect in mind.

A woman reported that her son had found a fast-food bag on the side of Shady Lane. Burgers weren’t inside, but the bag was found to be full of syringes. The boy left the bag beside the road. Officers were alerted to its presence for disposal.


Whitefish Police Department took a report about a vehicle that had been abandoned on State Park Road for about eight months.

A dad reported that a 40-year-old man had allegedly been sending his 15-year-old daughter inappropriate photos.

Columbia Falls Police Department took a report from Ninth Street West, where a woman had allegedly lost $300 or $400. The woman was hopeful someone might turn the money in to police.


Kalispell Police took a report from Sixth Avenue West, where a man was allegedly seen removing a donation box that was screwed into the wall of an establishment.

A woman on Second Avenue West complained that her freshman son had allegedly received a bloody nose after another freshman hit him. The incident was allegedly caught on film.

A woman reported that she had run out of gas and left her vehicle at a gas station. She thought someone had stolen it, because when she returned, it was gone.

Someone on First Avenue East reported that a canvas tote and Taser had been stolen from an unlocked vehicle.

A statement was collected after a road rage incident allegedly ended in gunfire near Flathead Valley Community College. A man reported that he had been followed on U.S. 93 and that someone in another vehicle had fired a shot at him. The suspect vehicle was a Toyota Tacoma.

A man threatened to sue the state and a bar after he was kicked out because it was closing time, twice. The man was told not to come back. He complained because he had lost track of his jacket at some point during the incident. He described his encounter with officers with swear words when he called dispatch a second time.

A vehicle was observed burning on First Avenue West. People at the scene told police they had been working on the vehicle before it caught fire.

A man was taken to jail for disorderly conduct after he allegedly screamed at several customers about someone allegedly taking his child. He allegedly repeated the allegation as he grabbed a customer.

A man on Second Street West agreed to take his cat after someone complained that he and a woman could be heard arguing in an alley about the custody of the feline.
