Cricket Wireless offers new service to Flathead

The Flathead Valley’s newest wireless provider opened on Sept. 1, and has done pretty well so far, manager Jeremy Frank said. 

“We’ve done pretty good, it’s a busy month right now,” he said. The new business is already reaching out to the community by joining the Evergreen Chamber of Commerce as one of the group’s newest members.

Cricket Wireless is a new wireless cellphone service to the Flathead, which allows customers to choose between a regular coverage plan or join on a prepaid basis. Frank said Cricket’s service is superior to other prepaid companies because it has a higher priority on cellphone towers installed around the world.

“A lot of other prepaid companies are just a service you can get at another store, but this has a storefront; we have a representative that can explain things or talk to you,” he said.

The store currently employs four people, including the owner, two managers and a store advocate. Frank said it’s a good number of staff to prepare for the holiday season coming up.

“We’re expecting a lot of turnout for devices this year,” he said, “people looking for new devices around tax season as well.”

Cricket Wireless carries all phone models, he said, from $20 dollar smartphones to the $750 Iphone 7. He said while the store is ramping up promotional deals for the holidays, tax season usually produces an extra boost when people have some expendable income for a new toy.

Frank said he thinks good service has simply set the tone for Cricket Wireless.

“Things have been going pretty good, we’ve made a lot of people happy,” Frank said.

Cricket Wireless is located at 230 E. Idaho St. in Kalispell.
