LETTER: Don't 'report' on liberal reactions to the election

| November 25, 2016 6:00 AM

Shame on you, Daily Inter Lake. Your reporting has sunk to the levels of the National Enquirer with some of your recent “news” stories.

On your Nov. 16 front page, you “report” that Mr. Gil Jordan is stepping down from his job with the Montana Historical Society. In a blatant insult to the millions of Americans who do not follow his political views, he calls our views racist and bigoted and going back to Jim Crow. It is people like him who help to make this country more divided than at any time since the Civil War. His views should be on the opinion page and not seen as newsworthy material. I hope that his views do not reflect those of the Historical Society even if he does use that as his 30 seconds of fame.

Again on Nov. 19 you choose to headline a protester who doesn’t like the results of the election. I didn’t personally like the results of the previous two elections but most reasonable and sane people accepted them and did not riot in the streets, block traffic and do property damage as is happening in some of our cities. Discussion, debate and protest belong on the opinion page and not validated as “news.” The valley has a lot to offer as newsworthy and there is no reason to focus on the negativity and division.

If you print this opinion, I hope that it goes on the opinion page where it belongs as opposed to some cheesy headline. —Marty Boehm, Creston
