Friendly dog reunited with owner

Someone found a “very friendly” dog wandering on Baker Avenue and took the pooch to the Whitefish Police Department for assistance finding its owner. The owner was contacted and picked up the animal.

A caller told police that an intoxicated man came into an East Lakeshore Drive business and was denied service. The man allegedly left driving a vehicle, and the caller did not think that was OK.

A passer-by told police there were vehicles parked on the median and shoulder on U.S. 93 South and there were two men outside the vehicles arguing or fighting. Officers were unable to locate the men or vehicles.


A Third Avenue West resident called the Columbia Falls Police Department when two neighbors were allegedly fighting, possibly over a car.

A Second Avenue East resident told police that someone had thrown a pipe wrench at her window sometime overnight. The caller said the wrench had gone through one pane of glass, but not the second, and was still sitting in the grass outside.

Someone called police concerned that two children were vandalizing a car in a Ninth Street West lot. Officers discovered the kids had been playing on the vehicle, but no damage had been done.


The Kalispell Fire Department responded to reports of a fuel spill on Treeline Road.


The Smith Valley Fire Department responded to reports of a grass fire on Granite Hill Road.
