Thomas Wyndham 'Wyn' Thomas, 89

| November 30, 2016 6:21 PM

Thomas Wyndham “Wyn” Thomas, a longtime resident of Kalispell, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, at the age of 89.

Wyn was born Aug. 8, 1927, to Richard and Ada May Thomas in the small coalmining town of Ystradgynlais in South Wales.

Wyn was an excellent student, popular among classmates, and he played rugby for a local Ystradgynlais school. He worked in the coalmines during World War II and later developed the skills and reputation of a fine cabinetmaker, homebuilder and mason.

Wyn met the love of his life, JoAnn, on a blind date to Disneyland in 1956. They were married in 1957 and eventually settled in Panorama City, California, where they built a wonderful life for their two children and attended Grace Community Church. Wyn’s craftsmanship and strong work ethic propelled him through the employment ranks of the high-end travel coach industry to become superintendent of Boles Manufacturing.

Wyn and JoAnn moved to the Flathead Valley in 1978 and bought an antique store east of Kalispell, which they operated for many years.

Wyn was an active member of Central Bible Church and a vibrant part of the community. He was a proud Welshman that never met a stranger and had a kind word for everyone he met.

Wyn was a wholly devoted family man and his exceptional example of decency, responsibility, honor and commitment to family will endure for generations.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, JoAnn; two daughters, Julie and Kimberly; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial services for Wyn will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10, at Central Bible Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a contribution to the Central Bible Church building fund. The church can be contacted at: Office@centralbiblechurch.com.
