Meeting and input session planned April 26

Montana West Economic Development will be hosting its quarterly meeting and luncheon for investors and members on April 26. The meeting will report on MWED’s 2017 strategic plan and progress on Kalispell’s Core and Rail Development project.

Following the luncheon will be a 30 minute community input session regarding the economic development plans for the coming five years. Every five years MWED creates a new regional improvement plan and this session will be the last in a series offering community members the opportunity to provide input on areas they feel should be addressed.

“This is a process meant to be open to anyone in the community,” Kim Morisaki, business development director for Montana West, told the Daily Inter Lake last month. “They don’t need to know the ‘language’ of economic development. It’s an opportunity to talk about what they want for their community.”

Water preservation, timber, agriculture and workforce housing have been popular topics in previous input sessions, Morisaki said.

The meeting and luncheon will be from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 26 at the Red Lion Hotel, 20 N. Main St. in Kalispell. The meeting is open to the public and the cost for the luncheon is $10 for members and $15 for non-members. The final Community Economic Survey meeting will be held after the meeting, from 1 to 1:30 p.m., and is free and open to the public.
