Daniel Edward Youreman, 80

Daniel Edward Youreman, 80, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Genesis in Whitefish, due to cancer.

He was born Oct. 15, 1936, in St. Paul, Minnesota, and was raised and attended school in St. Paul and Denver.

Daniel entered the U.S. Navy Oct. 16, 1956, and served as a radio operator during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in September of 1962.

In November of 1990 he married Neva Smith in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Daniel worked in construction and then became a deputy sheriff in Jefferson County, Colorado, where he was an undercover detective. After moving to Whitefish in 1973, he worked first as a mechanic for Duff Chevrolet, until he was hired onto the Flathead County Sheriff’s Department where he was a detective and a patrol officer. He retired as Sergeant 7-10 in 1995.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, travel and auto mechanics.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Margaret Youreman, sisters, Dorothy and Ellen; his son, Kenneth Lee Youreman; and stepdaughter, Dawn Grant.

Daniel is survived by his wife of 27 years, Neva Youreman, of Kalispell; daughter, Sherilyn Morris, and husband Mark Morris, of Whitefish; grandchildren, Wyatt Gates Morris of Columbia Falls, Tara Fitzgerald of Kalispell, Abby Grant and Victoria Grant of Bigfork; great-grandchildren, Ingrid Arin Morris of Columbia Falls and Vail Dawn Hornbuckle of Kalispell; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Regna House of Idaho; and multiple nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 29, at First Baptist Church of Whitefish. A reception will follow at 2 p.m. at the Elks Lodge in Kalispell.
