Vandals in Whitefish deploy toilet paper

A Peregrine Lane resident told the Whitefish Police Department that their house had been vandalized overnight. It was reportedly toilet-papered and items in the yard had been damaged and broken.

A group working on U.S. 93 South during the Clean the ‘Fish event reported finding a bag containing drugs, needles and other paraphernalia. Officers retrieved the items to make sure it was all properly disposed of.

A small child riding a bike was reportedly hit by a vehicle in a parking lot off U.S. 93 South. The driver of the vehicle, reportedly a dark red Jeep, allegedly left the scene, and it was unclear if the suspect even realized it happened. The child was allegedly knocked off her bike, and was taken to the doctor after complaining of leg pain.

A dog was reportedly found on East Fourth Street. The black lab did not have a collar or tags, and the person who found the pup offered to keep it until an owner could be located.

A Somers Avenue resident called to complain about a barking dog in the neighborhood.

Officers responded to reports of two people panhandling outside a Baker Avenue business. When officers arrived, one of the suspects was reportedly urinating in the parking lot. They were given a verbal warning and told to move along.

Two men were reportedly drinking and throwing bottles and rocks at trains. Officers were unable to locate the suspects.

A man was arrested for urinating in public on East First Street. It was unclear if it was the same man who had been warned earlier.

A passer-by called police about a fight in front of a Central Avenue business. The caller said there were four or five men involved, and that the fight had spilled out into the street. Officers didn’t find any brawling in progress when they arrived.

Columbia Falls Police officers responded to reports of kids playing on the train tracks near First Street West North. Officers counseled two juveniles in the area.

A young man was reported on Martha Road with a survey stick in his hand. Officers asked him to put it back where he found it.

Officers spoke with another pair of young boys who were playing in the street on Third Avenue West. They agreed to stay out of the road.

A woman reportedly ran off with a couple of sodas from a Ninth Street West store.
