Nine young Flathead Valley golfers will be taking part in the PGA Junior League Golf Final Four on Sunday at Three Lakes Golf Club in Malaga, Washington.

The all-star group, all ages 13-and-under, formed after the Flathead Valley PGA Junior League season championship. They won the state championship for the first time in three years, topping Polson and Missoula to advance to the sub-regional tournament.

“It’s a good deal for the kids,” team captain Jess Roper said. Roper is a PGA professional at Village Greens Golf Club in Kalispell.

“We’ve been doing it for the last three years and it’s been huge success for us at the club and at the other clubs as well.”

The Flathead Valley/Upper Lake All-Stars will be competing against three other all-star teams from the Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; Mukilteo, Washington; and Bellevue/Sammamish, Washington areas for the opportunity to advance to the PGA Junior League Golf Western Regional Sept. 16-17 at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco. The winner of the Western Regional will compete in the PGA Junior League Championship at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, Nov. 16-19.
