Entering its 11th year, Glacier has hired its first alumni as head coach, tabbing 2010 grad Abby Connolly to lead the Wolfpack softball team this season.

Connolly, who has coached the JV team the last two seasons, will take over for the departing Andy Fors, who led the team for five years, guiding the program to its first state title in 2015.

Connolly was a member of the first class of Glacier students, playing three seasons for the Wolfpack from 2008-10. The first baseman hit .317 her senior season, leading the team to its first postseason victory.

Aside from leading most of the girls on the roster as JV coach, Connolly has also had coaching stints at Polson and Missoula Sentinel.

“I’m beyond thrilled,” Connolly said. “It’s really cool to come back as an alumni and have the opportunity to carry on the tradition that’s been set by Joel Bemis and Andy Fors. I’m really excited.”

Connolly teaches English and psychology at Glacier High School. She has also helped with the speech and debate team.

“We are excited to have Abby lead the Pack,” activities director Mark Dennehy said in a press release. “She brings a keen understanding of the nuances of Wolfpack traditions from succesful programs. She is well equipped to continue the level of excellence within the program.”
