Mare Wakefield and Nomad make Whitefish tour stop

| August 17, 2017 12:54 PM

Mare Wakefield and Nomad, an award-winning, Nashville-based Americana duo, are on tour this summer and fall promoting their upcoming record “Time to Fly,” set to be released in January. The tour started in the Midwest and circles the nation, ending in Texas in early October.

The duo will be making a tour stop in the Flathead Valley at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at Stillwater Landing Ranch in Whitefish.

Mare Wakefield and Nomad were 2016 and 2015 finalists at Kerrville’s NewFolk Songwriting Competition in Texas and 2015 Emerging Artists at Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in New York. The Americana duo combines Mare’s strength as an award-winning songwriter with Turkish-born, classically-trained Nomad’s piano and accordion skills. Calling Nashville home while touring the U.S., this husband-and-wife team has earned a devoted fan base that funded their last record via Kickstarter. Attendees of their live show can expect to hear songs from their six studio records, including the single “One More Breaking Heart,” which has received more than 30,000 spins in retail stores nationally.

According to a press release, “Versatility and love for travel is evident in Mare and Nomad’s music. Listeners roam through Arizona deserts, Oklahoma oil fields and South Dakota plains, with side-trips to ancient Babylon and the streets of Amsterdam. The journeys go inward too, exploring hope and heartbreak, and the occasional whiskey-soaked barroom brawl. Story and song are woven seamlessly together by Mare’s intimate delivery and Nomad’s exquisite melodic arrangement.”

Following the Whitefish performance, the duo will finish the month of August in Oregon.
