Bigfork celebrates 10th annual Rumble in the Bay

| August 31, 2017 1:14 PM

Bigfork’s 10th annual Rumble in the Bay will roll into Bigfork this weekend.

The event kicks off Saturday, Sept. 2, with the Poker Run at various locations around Flathead Lake. The Poker Run starts at 10 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. at the new VFW building (old Masonic Lodge) in Bigfork.

Stops around the lake include Flathead Brewing Co. in Woods Bay, East Shore Smokehouse, the Polson VFW, Idle Spur Restaurant, Short Branch Saloon and Del’s Bar in Somers.

Sunday is the main event, as the Rumble in the Bay Car Show takes place in downtown Bigfork. Featuring between 300 and 350 vehicles, this is one of the largest car shows in Montana. The event was recently featured on Dennis Gage’s “My Classic Cars” show (season 21, episode 13).

This year the event will feature MOPAR vehicles, so it’s the “Year of the Mopar.” There will also be a costume contest for best costume fitting the era of the vehicle.

In addition to the vehicles, there will be food vendors, T-shirt sales and all the businesses in Bigfork will be open for the car show. There will be numerous raffles prizes, a downtown poker walk, 50-50 raffles and more.

Music will be provided by a DJ and broadcast throughout the village all day. Original and signed Eric Thorsen trophy awards will be presented at 4 p.m.

The event is open to the public and appropriate for all ages. Admission for spectators is free — to show a vehicle is $25 in advance and $30 on the day of the show.

The Bigfork Rumble Over the Bay Fly-in at Ferndale Airport in Bigfork will also take place Sunday.

There are many EAA aircraft there on display. Fly-in starts at 8 a.m. with a pancake breakfast that runs until noon.

There is a free shuttle bus that runs between the Ferndale Airport and downtown Bigfork for the car show. For more information, visit https://bigforkrumble.com, email BigforkRumble@gmail.com or call 406-260-8385.
