Two women from Libby were sent to the hospital after crashing on an icy highway west of Kalispell Monday morning.

The pair were headed east on U.S. 2 at McGregor Lake when the driver lost control of the 2005 Chevrolet Colorado on an icy patch. The driver over corrected then went off the highway, according to Montana Highway Patrol Trooper John Underwood. The pickup rolled and came to rest on its roof.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the accident scene at mile marker 85 at 10:47 a.m.

The driver was transported by ALERT air ambulance and the passenger by ground ambulance to Kalispell Regional Medical Center. Neither of the women were wearing a seat belt, Underwood said.

He didn’t believe alcohol or drugs factored into the crash, “they were just driving too fast for the road conditions,” Underwood said.
