Regional Special Olympics set for March 5 on Big Mountain

| December 15, 2017 4:00 AM

The Glacier Area Management Team for Special Olympics Montana has unanimously voted in favor of hosting Regional Winter Games in lieu of the canceled State Winter Games.

On Dec. 1, Special Olympics Montana announced it would not be hosting a state-sponsored Winter Games at Whitefish Mountain Resort, and encouraged Regional Games be held by the 12 local area program regions.

According to a press release from Special Olympics Montana, a public meeting was held Dec. 5 at the Red Lion Hotel in Kalispell, with most in attendance in favor of Regional Winter Games, and pledging their support. The Area Management Team met again Dec.12 and voted to host the games on a single day, Monday March 5, at Whitefish Mountain Resort.

More information will be forthcoming after meetings in early January. To volunteer, contact outreach director Aaron Gleason at 509-993-6841.
