Dale Allan Harrold, 62

Dale Allan Harrold, 62, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017 at his home in Whitefish, Dale was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on August 10, 1955 to David and Margaret (Crowe) Harrold.

It is with the profound sadness that comes with losing someone very special and loved, that our family announces the tragic loss of Dale Allan Harrold, husband of 36 years to Annette, father to son Deon (Dalys), Grandfather to Carter and Tyler, brother to Kim and David Jay, friend, colleague and mentor to so many who became close to Dale as he travelled the world on many interesting projects and wonderful adventures.

Dale contributed to and enriched the lives of many as a career professional in the international oil patch. He became a trusted mentor, loyal supporter and benefactor helping many begin and nurture their careers. His adventurous spirit provided the ability to achieve so much in the many passions and interests he tackled with unlimited energy and spirit.

Our family is so proud of Dale’s amazing entrepreneurial spirit not only in the energy sector, and the lifelong relationships he fostered with hardworking, genuine friends and colleagues around the globe.

Dale’s 40-year career in the energy industry was “sunsetting,” and now armed with dual citizenship in Canada and the U.S., he began to plan and build a Montana enclave for his retirement years. The great outdoors called and Dale answered, assembling a fleet of motorcycles, ATV quads, and snow machines for an eager gaggle of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews – family ready to ride, play, and experience this Montana lifestyle.

Time with grandchildren Carter and Tyler was so precious to Dale. He assumed the task of providing the best Montana outdoors education including camping, bushcraft, knife and axe skills, even snaring critters for food and skins (Carter really wanted gopher skin gloves). Without a doubt, the boys are now prepared for any apocalypse that may occur.

Sadly, it was cancer that became the nemesis of this strong, dynamic, bigger-than-life man. A lifetime of achievement was attacked by five months of this, the cursed evil that creeps in and robs so many of our loved ones of their forward-looking potential. Yet, like a graphic novel superhero, the achievements of this bigger-than-life Renaissance man cannot be thwarted by a disease so common to so many in our time. Dale is remembered and loved for what he gave, and his legacy that like our memory of him, will endure forever.
