A Lakeside man was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Glacier County on Tuesday.

The 75-year-old man died when his Toyota Highlander slid off the road down a steep embankment at about 4:30 p.m. east of Babb, according to the Montana Highway Patrol. His passenger, a 73-year-old Lakeside woman, was uninjured. Both were wearing seat belts.

The vehicle was traveling northbound on Highway 464 at mile marker 29 when it drifted off the road to the right, according to the Highway Patrol. The vehicle struck a barbed-wire fence and a large rock with the rear passenger tire as it traveled down the embankment before coming to a stop.

Highway Patrol reports that speed, as well as snow-covered and icy road conditions, played a factor in the crash. The identity of the man killed in the crash has not been released.
