The Glacier Nordic Center at Whitefish Lake Golf Course has opened for another season of cross-country skiing.

As of Friday, 12 kilometers of trails are groomed, and 4 kilometers are lit for nighttime skiing.

The adult daily trail fee is $10 for adults; $5 for ages 8-17; free for skiers 7-and-under and 70-and-older. Trail fees can be paid at the course’s Glacier Nordic Shop, which is open Monday to Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Sunday, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Payments are collected at a drop-box when the store is closed.

The shop also offers rentals, lessons and season memberships, which cost $65 for an individual and $130 for a family.

Beginning Wednesday, Jan. 3, the center will also begin hosting the Chet Hope Youth Ski League, open to youth ages four to 12 who want to learn or improve at cross-country skiing. Skiers will meet for seven Wednesdays from 4 to 5:30 p.m., beginning Jan. 3, and/or for seven Saturdays from 10 to 11:30 a.m., beginning Jan. 6. The registration cost is $50, and seasonal rentals are also available for $50. Need-based scholarships are available to pay for both.
