Alta Marie Bunch passed away Dec. 22, 2017, before she could have her last chemo session. She was born in Bemidji, Minnesota to Ben and Louise Knudson on April 23, 1938. She graduated from Bemidji High School and worked many different jobs. She married Jim Bunch when living in Missouri and they moved to California where she worked for a lawyer and Jim drove truck. When he couldn’t work anymore because of emphysema, she took care of him for eight years until he passed away.

Alta wanted to be near family, so she sold her house and drove to Canby, Oregon where her sister was waiting for her to drive the rest of the way to Montana. She lived with her sister and brother-in-law and being as independent as she was, she bought a mobile home after a month and lived at the meadow manor village until her death.

Alta loved playing cards and enjoyed many sessions with her sisters, brothers, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. She joined her sister’s card club, meeting once a month with her new friends.

Alta was preceded in death by her parents Ben and Louise Knudson, her husband Jim and his brothers and sisters; Elva Knudson and Don Holmquist. She is survived by siblings: Alton (Myrna) of Tennessee, Karen (Lem Pierce) of Minnesota, Jerry (Joan) of Montana, Lila (Gene Stahglberg) of Montana, Sandra (John Bates) of Colorado and lots of nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

As requested there will be no funeral. In Lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Judes or the breast cancer foundation.

Arrangements are under the care of Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home and Crematory.
