Auditions for 'Love Song' Feb. 27-28 in Whitefish

| February 23, 2017 4:00 AM

The Whitefish Theatre Co. is holding auditions for a Black Curtain theatre production of “Love Song,” Feb. 27 and 28 at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish. Auditions will be held at 7 p.m. each night.

Interested performers are asked to enter on the north side of the building near the green room, and to arrive early in order to fill out an audition application and review the script.

“Love Song” is a story about Beane, an eccentric outsider no one can get through to, including his well-meaning sister, Joan, or his brother-in-law, Harry. Following a burglary at Beane’s apartment, however, Joan is baffled to find her brother blissfully happy and in love with his assailant, Molly. Suddenly all the love songs make sense to Beane and his happiness begins to rub off on his sister’s life too — right down to the nuts and bolts of her own marriage. The Chicago Sun-Times said the play “is about nothing less than the chaos of being human, and the yearning for everything.” John Kolvenbach’s Olivier award-nominated, offbeat comedy is a rhapsody to the power of love in all its forms.

The cast will be composed of two men and two women, any age. No experience is necessary to audition and no preparation is required. Pages from the script will be provided.

Renee Conn is the director of this production. As a Black Curtain show, actors will remain on book during performances and there will be minimal costumes and set. Rehearsals will begin the week of March 6 and be held four times a week for a total of two weeks. There are two performances over one weekend on March 25 and 26.
