Shirtless suspects seen throwing rocks

A caller told the Whitefish Police Department that there was a group of young people near a bridge on Good Avenue who were allegedly throwing rocks at cars. The caller said the boys looked to be between 7 and 12 years old, and weren’t wearing shirts. Officers couldn’t locate any suspects.

Someone told the Kalispell Police Department about possible drug activity in a West Reserve Drive parking lot. The caller said the occupants of two different vehicles were either selling or buying drugs.

A Second Avenue East resident called police after discovering some items had been “stashed” outside his apartment window. The items reportedly included backpacks and sleeping bags. Officers believed the items might belong to some transients who frequent the area, but were unable to find the people at that time.

Someone complained about vehicles parked on both sides of a one-way street in an east-side neighborhood. Officers confirmed all the vehicles were parked legally, and as close to the side of the road as possible.

Someone reported barking dogs on Stratford Drive. Officers issued a warning to the offending pooch’s owners.

A man called police to ask if it was OK to temporarily park a moving van in his driveway on River Glen Court while unloading. The man was concerned because even though the van was completely out of the street, it was blocking the sidewalk. Officers told him it was fine, as long as it was temporary.

A caller reported a suspicious man walking up the street on Buffalo Stage with a backpack. The caller said the man “wasn’t doing anything, just looked suspicious.” Officers were unable to find a man matching the description in the area.

Officers checked on a man slumped over the wheel of his vehicle, parked near a West Idaho Street building. The man was fine — just sleeping in his car trying to keep warm.

A pistol and holster was reportedly stolen from a vehicle on Triple Creek Drive.

A driver on River Road called the Columbia Falls Police Department about two dogs that had been running loose on the road. One of the dogs was allegedly hit by another vehicle, but appeared to be uninjured. The driver was able to get the dogs into her truck and to the police department. Officers were able to contact the owner, who picked up the pooches and was told not to allow them to run at large.

The Kalispell Fire Department responded to reports of a motor vehicle fire on East Railroad Street. They also responded to reports of an outdoor gas odor on Fifth Avenue West North.

The West Valley Fire Department responded to reports of an outdoor gas odor on U.S. 93 North.

The Whitefish Fire Department responded to reports of an outdoor gas odor on Hospital Way.
