An unapologetic defense of un-PC Confederate flag issue

Sandy Perry was stunned — stunned I tell you — in the Nov. 20 Inter Lake at the insensitivty of the children’s parade to honor their friend Zachary Rhoads after his tragic demise by displaying the Confederate flag.

But what is the big deal? These children aren’t advocating a return to slavery, and I doubt their friend did. If anything intellectual is happening here it’s most likely these boys — it’s always boys flying Dixie’s battle flag — are in favor of more liberal states’ rights.

Even more so, it probably is just an unspoken defiance toward people who don’t want them to fly that flag because of their personal PC always-offended-about-something-stance. So the kids are giving them an in-their-face middle-finger salute. Hats off to the kids and their all-American spirit. I bet their friend ZR would be proud of them.

And that flag carries within its threads a spirit of battlefield manliness with its attending glory, honor and even chivalry — never spoken but always present. And these boys without really thinking of it, sense the presence of these elements.

Why won’t the liberals (Democrats) let this issue go? They are the ones that formed the KKK after the Civil War that grew to approximately 4 million members at one time. It was the Klan that lynched about 3,446 Negroes, Republicans and Jews and a handful of Christians that defended them. And it was the Democrats that fought against the Civil Rights Act (1964) and the Voting Rights Act (1965). And it was their ranking member Sen. Byrd who led that opposition and was himself a recruiter for the Klan. And if you talk to any white Democrat not in politics south of the Mason-Dixon line he will tell you he hates “niggers” — their words not mine — unless they are to-the-bone Christians. I know this from experience.

My Civil War era grandfather, Alonzo Slayback, was a colonel in the Confederate Calvary of Gen. J.O. Shelby’s Iron Brigade and was one of the last to surrender after retreating into Mexico with this unit after Lee’s surrender — his mother found him in Havana, Cuba, and told him to get his butt home and take care of his wife and five children. What a hoot — a Momma’s boy!

Anyway, on his return to Saint Louis, his home — and mine long ago — and after his official letter of surrender — I have a photocopy — was received, he was invited by the Jefferson Barracks command in Saint Louis to give the inaugural speech that officially opened the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery there. And he did.

If these officers who lost family, friends and countrymen under the sword of my grandfather were willing to respect and honor his service to Dixie and let the passions of all-out war die, why can’t these Democrats stop stirring the pot of racial conflict over a defeated flag.

And here’s something that will make a current Democrat’s head explode: Alonzo Slayback’s wife — my grandmother — received a slave for a wedding present at their marriage. And yes, they knew it was probably wrong, but no doubt had many reasons to justify it.

But that was then and common in that age. Just as it is common today for the Feminist Sisterhood and their geldings to advocate and perform cruel murders on fully viable babies in having their brain suctioned out at 99 percent birth — aka partial birth abortion.

Question: Would you rather be a slave soon to be set free — or not — or a fetus in the womb of a feminist Democrat. Let the boys wave their long dead symbol of a lost cause and be brave. Many of them will one day carry your Stars and Stripes battle flag onto the fields of glory and come home with it draped over their coffin to secure the rights of Democrats to hate their own country and kill children. Both of which greatly offend me, and God.
