Herbert Blakeman, 88

Herbert Blakeman, 88, of Hot Springs, died Dec. 31, 2016.

Herbert was born Oct. 11, 1928, in Moorcroft, Wyoming, to Walden and Isadora Blakeman

Herb is survived by his son Brad Blakeman, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was one of the last real chuck-wagon cowboys. He would tell stories of riding the range and sleeping under the stars.

He married the love of his life Wanda Finley (1935-2015) on Oct. 16, 1951, from that moment on the two were inseparable. Whether it was driving truck, running one of Canada’s largest cattle companies, logging, drilling oil, or their last endeavor, owning and running their own restaurant, The Running Iron in Hot Springs, for 20 years you would always find them together.

Services will be at 1 p.m. on Jan. 4, at the Apostolic Lutheran Church 215 Blacktail Rd. Lakeside.
