James Cherington Price, 28

| January 7, 2017 9:01 PM

On Dec. 23, 2016, James lost his long and difficult battle against addiction.

James grew up in the Flathead Valley. He attended Hedges Elementary, Linderman and Kalispell Junior High School and received his GED at the age of 16.

He was always surrounded by friends and never minded being the center of attention.

James was a successful athlete and played soccer, football, baseball and basketball. People who knew him described him as charming and charismatic with a happy disposition. James liked music and was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan.

In his adult years he worked in the food industry or for his dad’s restoration business. He ultimately found his niche as an auto salesman working for Mile High Auto Sales in Butte.

The love of his life was his beautiful daughter Sophia whom he cherished with all his heart. His plan was to move to Texas to be closer to her, with a goal of being the best father he could be. James grew in his faith and believed God was guiding him.

James was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Jim Rotter, his uncle, James Rotter, and paternal grandparents George and Betty Price.

He is survived by his daughter Sophia Price, and her mother Marquie Kalagian; his beloved mother Stephanie Maroney, his father James Price and stepmother Velvet, his sisters Elizabeth “Lizzy” and Christy Ann, niece Clarissa, his maternal grandmother Mary Lou Rotter, his aunt, Michelle and Richard Anderson, and uncle, Daniel Rotter, all of Kalispell; also numerous friends and relatives in Montana, Minnesota and Ohio.

A gathering of James’ family and friends will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, at the Epworth United Methodist Church, located at 329 2nd Ave. East in Kalispell.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the James Price Memorial Fund, Account no. 988988, at the Whitefish Credit Union.
