Flames were just to keep warm

What appeared to be flames coming through the window of a motor home that had propane tanks and people inside on First Avenue West and 18th Street West turned out to be someone “burning rubbing alcohol to keep [the] entrance warm.” Kalispell Police Department counseled people involved.

License plates were reported stolen on U.S. 93 North.

People were heard yelling and swearing at a 10th Avenue West apartment. A resident said that a person allegedly threatened him with a knife before leaving. The resident was allegedly being uncooperative with dispatchers and described as “verbally aggressive.” The resident said another person was trying to hit him, block him in the kitchen and then had a “loss of memory about what just happened.”

A woman driver was seen not stopping for a school bus with its lights flashing red and stop sign pulled out on Liberty Street and Northern Lights Boulevard.

A Greenbriar Drive woman was not happy to come home to find her house had allegedly been ransacked and that a safe was missing along with credit cards, checks and money.

A vehicle was stuck on a snow berm on Seventh Street West and 10th Street West.

A muffler was removed from the road on Sunset Boulevard.

Flathead County Sheriff’s Office received a report on Pioneer Road in Kalispell that a boy allegedly slammed a teen girl’s head to the ground, hurting her hand, after getting off the bus at a bus stop.

A silver pickup was reported stolen on Sharon Road in Kalispell, along with a purse containing a checkbook and debit cards.

A house on Vista View Trail in Columbia Falls was reportedly broken into.

Someone on Valley View Drive in Kalispell said his or her fence was damaged by a county plow when “snow was thrown.”

A man on U.S. 93 North in Olney was allegedly punched in the face.

A basement door window on Bierney Creek Road in Lakeside had reportedly been shot out, possibly by a pellet or BB gun.

A gray van left running outside was reported stolen and a bicycle left behind on U.S. 2 East in Kalispell.

A possibly intoxicated woman, with blood on her face and a black eye, reportedly ran into a store’s bathroom on U.S. 2 East in Hungry Horse. The woman said a friend allegedly beat her up and took her vehicle, but didn’t want to talk to an officer or get medical help rather she “just wants cigarettes.” The woman was seen leaving in a black vehicle.

Whitefish Police Department received two calls about a militia-type group on East Third Street. It was learned that the group was an anti-fascist action group from Missoula showing support for the town.

A man on Waverly Place told police about a stolen mountain bike, valued at $3,500, that had been stolen from his garage was reportedly listed on Craigslist.

Columbia Falls Police Department responded to a call on Second Avenue West from a public works employee that a frozen pipe was flooding a basement and the employee needed someone to turn off the water.

Kalispell Fire Department responded to reports of a vehicle fire on First Avenue West.

Fish and Game and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received several calls about an injured eagle on the side of the road on U.S. 2 and Mount Snowy Drive with concerns that people stopping would cause an accident. The eagle was eventually moved to the woods and a “bird lady” contacted to pick up the bird.

Someone on Hutton Drive and Bobtail Road reported to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office that mailboxes were reportedly damaged and that mail may have been stolen.

Officers responded to a physical disturbance on Frazey Court.

An officer from Oakland, California called to report a stolen gun was found.

A large cow moose was spotted running down Second Street and then began “eating on a tree.”

A man called to report a coworker allegedly attempted to assault him at work.
