Kalispell plagued by gas thieves

Kalispell Police Department took a report of a woman who was allegedly caught on camera stealing gas from First Avenue East twice over two days.

A man on U.S. 93 North allegedly jumped into a vehicle and “tore off,” leaving the gas tank open, without paying for $30.01 in gas.

Police responded to a report that a male passenger in a vehicle on Garland Street allegedly got out and body-slammed a teen boy, pinning him to the ground because he wouldn’t get into the vehicle. The teen reportedly had bruises and cuts from the incident but denied medical treatment.

A man was reportedly living in a box with a dog on North Main Street and panhandling. Someone wanted police to move him along.

Someone was concerned that a man on U.S. 93 North appeared to be waving a car down, almost jumping into traffic.

Intoxicated patrons on Treeline Road were allegedly being disorderly, getting into a bartender’s face when asked to leave. Eventually, the group left in a truck.

A small bag of a white powder substance was allegedly dropped in a U.S. 2 West store by two men. The men had left by the time police arrived.

Someone on U.S. 93 North reported to Flathead County Sheriff’s Office a reckless driver after seeing a woman, who appeared to be playing on her phone, allegedly swerve all over the highway.

A woman woke up to a surprise when she saw a minivan-type vehicle in her driveway on Helena Flats Road in Kalispell and was uncertain how long it had been there or who it belonged to. It was learned that the vehicle had allegedly been stolen from a repair shop the previous day.

Several vehicles were reportedly broken into on U.S. 2 West in Columbia Falls. Damages were allegedly discovered to the vehicles along with footprints on the ground leading to them, scattered paperwork and a few missing dollars and coffee cards.

About $40,000 in rented equipment was reunited with a U.S. 2 East business in Kalispell after someone allegedly gave false information to rent it, then failed to return it and attempted to either sell it or use it as collateral.

Someone on Big Mountain Road in Whitefish told police that he or she had video surveillance of a person walking into a laundry room and stealing a change machine off the wall.

A possibly abandoned vehicle with a broken axle on Commerce Street in Bigfork was found to have license plates that did not belong to the vehicle and were returned to the owner. Attempts were made to contact the last known owner of the vehicle.

A signal arm at a railroad crossing was reported down after being hit by a vehicle.
