Bigfork Community Players auditioning for 'Panache'

| January 19, 2017 4:00 AM

The Bigfork Community Players are producing Don Gordon’s romantic comedy, “Panache” and open auditions are Friday, Jan. 27 and Saturday, Jan. 28.

As the story goes, Charles Trafalgar’s silver Mercedes needs an appropriate license plate. And with his birthday coming up, his Scarsdale housewife Kathleen believes that one with “Panache” would be the perfect gift. Unfortunately, the “Pancake” plate she receives through an obvious bureaucratic foul-up won’t do at all. Clearly the Brooklyn short-order cook who received the “Panache” plate can be reasoned with. But Harry Baldwin is not quite the short-order cook Kathleen Trafalgar expects and her birthday idea doesn’t emanate quite the panache she thought. And, as she comes to realize, neither does Charles.

David Vale will direct “Panache” for the players.

“I was very impressed when I first read the script,” he said. “How it built characters that were funny but yet so real they could bring tears. Don Gordon has crafted a very satisfying piece.”

Auditions for Panache will be at the Bigfork Community Center (formerly the Senior Citizens Center) across from the Bigfork Middle School at 639 Commerce St. Interested performers are asked to arrive at the Center anytime between 3 and 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 27, or between 4 and 7 p.m on Saturday, Jan. 28. Actors should plan to stay for about an hour.

Details about the play and auditions are available on the Bigfork Community Players website at www.BigforkCommunityPlayers/PanacheMain.html.
