Officer faces fireworks head-on

A resident of Fifth Avenue West reportedly threw fireworks into the road as a Kalispell Police officer was passing. The officer said he did not believe the fireworks were aimed at him and let the shooters off with a warning.

Two women were reportedly seen loading up their vehicle with “donated items.”

A man was reportedly caught on video stealing a bike from a pile of donated items.

Several tools were reportedly stolen from an unlocked car parked outside a restaurant while the car’s owner was inside having breakfast.

A man and his Jack Russell sidekick were reportedly seen attempting to break into various vehicles near the railroad tracks.

A man reportedly gave a man and his “little dog” a ride, and discovered the hitchhiker allegedly “cut up” his car seats after letting him out.

A woman was reportedly threatened by a neighbor after she allegedly shot at the neighbor’s dogs for chasing her sheep. The neighbor allegedly told the woman she would shoot her if she shot the dogs, according to a Lincoln County Sheriff’s report.

A woman told a police officer, “she had something he is going to want to look at.”

A woman was reported for allegedly stealing a security camera from a property on West Pipe Creek Road.

Someone reportedly broke into a greenhouse and stole two medical marijuana plants.

A woman reportedly went into her garage to find someone had allegedly broken in and vandalized her vehicle.

Someone reportedly stole $40 worth of change from a laundromat, according to Flathead Sheriff’s deputies. Citizens are advised to be on the lookout for anyone with heavy pockets that jingle.

Someone reportedly blew up a man’s mailbox on Foys Canyon Road with a sparkler bomb.

An Australian shepherd/black lab mix was found on West Third Street and taken to the county animal shelter.

Two males reportedly smashed planters in front of a business on Electric Avenue.

A dog was reportedly rescued from a river after it repeatedly jumped in every time a white boat passed. The reporting person believed the dog was looking for its owner and looked to be in distress. The person took the dog home and was able to reunite it with its owner.

A woman’s house was reportedly shaking from the noise made by a party next door. Authorities asked the party goers to turn down the music.

A raft carrying a group of people, including a 12-year-old child, allegedly flipped in a river near Columbia Falls. Everyone in the raft was rescued from the river by deputies or passing kayakers.

A group of around 10 males were reported for throwing rocks at a family camped at a campground near a bridge. The men were reportedly intoxicated and angry at the family for camping at the location. One man reportedly exposed himself to them. Authorities arrived on the scene and the men left without further incident.

Someone reported a fireworks vendor for leaving small children inside a hot car while the vendor worked the stand. After a second report, child protective services were contacted and the children were removed from their parents’ custody.

An Evergreen resident reported his landlord for attempting to force him to recant his statement as an alleged witness to her driving drunk and crashing into a gas line. The woman allegedly threatened to evict the man if he did not change or recant his statement.

Officers had to remove a road hazard from Old Highway 2 East. The hazard was a donkey.

A fireworks vendor locked himself in his stand with his handgun when a customer refused to leave the stand after it closed. The man came out when authorities arrived and found the man had gone.

A woman was rushed to North Valley Hospital after fireworks inside a pipe exploded, breaking her collarbone and putting a hole in her ear.

Someone reportedly left a baggie of suspected drugs at a pharmacy, according to Whitefish Police.

A transient was reportedly assaulted by three men on Central Avenue. The man declined to press charges.

Half a dozen people were allegedly seen burglarizing a home on Woodland Place. The group was allegedly seen kicking in the door and breaking windows. Authorities arrived on scene and held the suspects at gunpoint before realizing they were all juveniles. The kids were released to their parents.

A golden retriever mix was found on Central Avenue and taken to the police department to await his owner.
