Evelyn A. Mooney, 78

Evelyn A. Mooney “went home to be with her Lord and Savior” on July 9, 2017.

She was born Feb. 4, 1939, in Kahoka, Missouri, to Woodrow and Belva Hipsher. She was the second of six children.

Evelyn lived in the Black Hills of South Dakota and graduated from Provo High School in 1957. She then attended Chadron State Teachers College, where she received her teaching degree.

She moved to Great Falls to be close to family and met and married John Mooney, Dec. 19, 1964. They were loyal companions and she took care of him until his death in 1996.

Evelyn taught in Great Falls for 34 years and loved every minute helping children.

She was very social, loving to be around people. She was active in AAUW, Delta Kappa Gamma, Red Hatters, various church activities and Bible studies.

Evelyn moved to Kalispell in 2007 to help take care of her grandchildren who were the highlights of her life. She loved to be called GG, aka, Gorgeous Grandma.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow and Belva Hipsher, and her husband, John Mooney.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Karen Hartle (husband Jeremy); her four grandchildren, MaKenna, Mattiline, John and Emily Hartle, of Kalispell; and her siblings, Betty (Nobby) Johnson of Great Falls, John (Lee) Hipsher of Boise, Idaho, James (Sara) of Portland, Woody (Pat) of Louisville, Colorado, and Mary (Fred) of McMinnville, Oregon.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Great Falls.
