Good reason to stop, smell the flowers

Someone taking a walk on West Second Street called the Whitefish Police Department when they found a cellphone in a flower bed in front of a business. Police were able to reunite the phone’s owner with the lost item later that day.

A stop sign was reported missing from an East Fifth Street intersection. The police report stated that the post was still there and intact. Criminal mischief was suspected.

A planter was reportedly stolen from a business on East Sixth Street overnight.

An Armory Road resident called about a dog that had allegedly been barking nearby for at least 30 minutes. An officer visited several different spots in the neighborhood attempting to locate the offending pooch, but was unable to hear any barking or locate any dogs.

Someone called the Columbia Falls Police Department to report seeing some trucks parked behind a Ninth Street West business, possibly trying to steal some pallets. Officers made contact with the store’s management about the complaint.

A caller said there was a loud party going on near Riley Lane, possibly involving underage drinking. Officers found several vehicles in the area, but there were no apparent parties taking place.

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a motor vehicle fire on Montana 35.

The Smith Valley Fire Department responded to reports of a grass fire on Foys Canyon Road.

The Whitefish Fire Department responded to reports of an outdoor gas odor on West Lakeshore Drive. They also responded to reports of a burnpile on Cedar Lane.

The West Valley Fire Department responded to reports of a grass fire on Hunt Lane.
